March 20, 2026 - Display Cases
March 20, 2026 Display Cases We all have different ways to display and to show off our most treasured finds. This can vary from a shoebox to very elaborate framing. Some may choose to not show off their finds at all. The choice is yours of course. One of my personal favorites are Ryker Boxes. They come in a variety of sizes and depths. My goal here is not to promote one product over another as I’m certain that there are a number of other display box types and manufactures out there but I just happened to come across these sometime ago and I’ve never looked back. They are relatively easy to find and are reasonably priced. I also like to use coin holders with plastic sleeves for coins of course and for odd smaller items. Also are “Floating Display” boxes. These are all available through Temu and Amazon. My last order for Ryker Boxes was from a detectorist supplier in Ontario but I don’t see these specific items on their website at the moment so I will not name them but suppliers for this hobby are not hard to find. Personally, I prefer to buy local so make sure you check in with Robin at OK John Metal Detectors. A good idea would be to put together a wish list and place an order with Robin at the KDC meeting on April 19th. And yes, him, I am promoting as his dedication towards advancing the hobby in Manitoba deserves some credit. The pictures on this post show a number of different artifact collections in different display cases. Some are mine, some belong to other club members who were kind enough to share. It’s all meant to give you some ideas as to what to do with your better finds. One problem however that I have come across is how to affix heavy items, like bullets, and more specifically musket balls, into the case so that gravity doesn’t pull it all down. The fabric can only hold so much and gluing a heavy item to the fabric is no guarantee against the pull of gravity. So bring in your preferred display case at the KDC meeting on Sunday, April 19, 2026. I’d love to learn something new.
