February 7, 2026 - Informal Coffee Date
February 7, 2026
Informal Coffee Date
A
few
requests
from
members
had
been
made
about
maybe
having
a
meeting
or
two
outside
of
our
standard
spring
and
fall
meeting.
A
call
was
made,
a
call
was
heard
and
the
call
was answered.
The
date
was
initially
set
for
January
24th
but
Mother
Nature
had
other
plans
for
us.
Minus
29C
with
a
wind
chill
of
minus
35C
made
that
day
a
no
go.
So
Plan
“B”
kicked
in!
It’s
always
good
to
have
options
so
the
date
was
moved
to
a
warmer
climate.
The
new
date
became
Saturday,
February
7,
at
10:00
A.M.
at
the
Tim
Hortons
at
1040
Beaverhill
Blvd.
It’s
an
easy
location
to
get
to
just
off
of
Fermor
Ave.,
not
far
from
Lagimodiere
Blvd.
Now
I’m
not
advocating
Tim
Hortons
over
any
other
coffee
place
but
this
location,
being
tied
in
with
a
Wendy’s
has
a
lot
of
seating
available
including
space
for
the
usual
Saturday
morning
coffee
crowd.
Albeit,
I
had
to
make
up
my
own
“Reserved” signs.
I
must
say
that
I
was
pleasantly
surprised
at
the
KDC
membership
turnout.
We
were
10
in
total.
In
fact
a
few
members
arrived
almost
an
hour
early,
so
clearly
there
is
a
thrust
for
comradery
and
club
activities.
I
wish
to
thank
Don
and
Oris
for
their
work
and
effort
in
putting
together
a
package
of
information
about
possible
club
meeting
locations
whose
rental
would
not
break
the
bank.
Don
and
Oris
took
a
lot
of
time,
effort
and
did
lots
of
driving
around
to
find
a
meeting location for our club. Thank you both!
Members
brought
in
a
variety
of
interesting
items
to
show
around.
Don
showed
us
his
newly
acquired
digital
microscope
with
scale
that
combines
technology
with
magnification.
Someone
brought
a
spent
50
caliber
bullet
or
possible
tracer
round
as
it
seems
light,
hollow
and
has
a
sizable
hole
in
the
bottom
portion
of
the
bullet.
???
One
member
wanted
to
know
if
anyone
knew
what
the
big
brass
pin
was.
I
believe
that
it’s
probably
a
survey
pin.
These
were
cast
into
a
large
concrete
block
and
were
found
all
around
the
prairies
and
used
as
point
of
references
for
sections
etc.
It
is
a
piece
of
the
Dominion
Land
Survey.
The
sprocket
was
part
of
Massey
Harris
farm
equipment.
Who
knows
what
that
went
on?
It
does
have
a
part
number:
A184.
Good
luck
with
that idea!
Stories
of
past
adventures
were
shared
and
new
metal
detecting
projects
were
proposed.
It’s
what
being
part
of
a
club
is
all
about.
This
indeed
was
time
well
spent.
Till
the
next time!
Roger
