February 2021 - Under the bridge
February, 2021
Under the bridge.
Well
well,
just
when
you
thought
you
were
safe
from
Metalman9.
Here
is
a
short blurb just to let you know that I'm still alive and well.
Who
ever
said
February
would
not
yield
a
metal
haul.
I
concentrated
my
efforts
under
the
South
Perimeter
Bridge,
at
the
Red
River.
Yes,
under
the
bridge itself.
On
milder
weather
days,
I
have
taken
the
10
minute
walk
to
the
west
river
bank
or
the
12
minute
walk
over
the
bridge
to
the
east
bank
and
retrieved
100's
of
lbs.
of
metal,
mostly
iron.
No,
I'm
not
taking
the
bridge
apart
so
you're
quite
safe
driving
over
it.
But
it
appears
that
when
maintenance
is
done
on
the
bridge,
no
one
bothers
to
clean
up
after.
So,
no
metal
detector
was
needed
at
this
time,
just
plain
sight.
Big
long
bolts,
nuts,
thick
plates,
washers, pipe, welding rods, nails, even some tools.
Plus,
someone
in
their
wisdom
decided
this
to
be
a
great
spot
to
dump
off
a
load
of
metal
ceiling
track
that
holds
ceiling
tiles
in
place.
It
took
3
trips
with
the
sled
to
bring
all
of
the
ceiling
track
home.
Plus
numerous
trips
with
a
large
sturdy
bag
for
the
smaller
iron
pieces.
That
too
amounted
to
100’s
of lbs.
Oh
and
did
mention
the
endless
beer
and
pop
cans.
Call
me
naive
but
I
really
didn't
think
people
drank
while
driving
anymore.
At
least
not
to
that
extent. I mean like Why?
I
may
not
be
swinging
a
metal
detector
but
I'm
sure
getting
great
exercise,
fresh
air
and
doing
the
environment
some
good.
I'll
probably
have
another
van
load
of
metal
for
the
recycler
and
a
bag
or
two
of
cans
for
the
beer
store by spring.
Enjoy
the
warmer
weather.
Anything
milder
than
minus
27;
like
minus
14
is
a
bonus.
I
can't
wait
for
plus
1
or
plus
2
degree
weather.
Yup,
that
will
be
me
crossing
the
South
Perimeter
Bridge
or
a
bridge
near
you
in
a
T-shirt
and flip flops with yet another bag of metal.
Stay well all and stay safe.
Oh and: The website is almost complete.
